Two Ash Wednesday Services Feb. 17
Wednesday, February 17, is a significant day that begins a special season for the Church. Ash Wednesday is the one day of the year in which we become visibly marked as Christian disciples with the imposition of ashes upon our foreheads in the shape of the cross. The ashes themselves, which are made by burning the palm branches from last year's Palm Sunday, remind us of our human mortality as well as the forgiveness of our sins through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. Ash Wednesday also ushers in the annual pre-Easter period of spiritual preparation known as the Season of Lent.
This year at Trinity, we are offering two Ash Wednesday worship services in our sanctuary on February 17: a lunchtime service from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. and an evening service from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Each of these services will focus on repentance and reconciliation. I invite you to join us at either service as we begin our Lenten journey toward the cross.
